The troops of the Armed Forces will remain in the "German Complex " (Complexo do Alemão) and Vila Cruzeiro Favelas until October 2011.
The information was confirmed by Adriana Ancelmo,the Governor's wife, during the inauguration of the 13th Pacification Police Unit(UPP), at the "Hill of the Monkeys" favela.
Initially, the forecast of Governor was that theroops would remain until July in the shantytowns.
The Ministry of Defence has agreed to the participation of over 2,000 men of the Armed Forces to fight banditry in Rio de Janeiro.
The military will participate in the occupation of the German Complex and the Vila Cruzeiro.
